Christie Rightly Praised Obama After Storm
Posted: February 13, 2013
According to George Will, Republicans will probably forget New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s praise of Barack Obama after Hurricane Sandy (“Christie Is The ‘UnRomney’,” Feb. 1).
Did Will miss Gov. Christie’s great comment made on Oct. 30? “I don’t give a damn about Election Day after what has happened here. I am worried about the people of New Jersey.”
Gov. Christie was publicly thanking Obama for his concern for New Jersey in the face of a catastrophic event. Party politics had no role in what was happening. I hope the people of New Jersey remember the governor’s concern for them.
My husband and I are now retired after a combined 53 years of working in New Jersey municipalities. While employed, we were not allowed to express political opinions because we did not serve an individual political group, we served all the residents of the municipality.
Gov. Christie’s “praise” of the president’s help is no less than what we would have expected.
