JMU Sweeps Hartford

HARRISONBURG — Freshman catcher Bobby San Martin hit a walk-off home run with two outs in the 11th inning, giving James Madison’s baseball team an 11-9 win over Hartford on Sunday to complete a four-game sweep at Veterans Memorial Park.

JMU won Saturday’s games 10-2 and then 6-2.

The Dukes, who have won four in a row for the first time since 2011, improved to 6-6; the Hawks dropped to 0-8.

In Saturday’s second game, senior shortstop Casey Goss went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and junior designated hitter Conner Brown also went 2-for-4.

San Martin also went deep in Game 1, while Brown and junior first baseman Matt Tenaglia each went 3-for-4.

BC Sweeps Randolph-Macon: Junior second baseman Bryan Sanderson and sophomore center fielder Darren Yoder each hit home runs to lead Bridgewater College to an 8-1 win and a doubleheader sweep of Randolph-Macon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday at BC.

The Eagles, who won the opener 10-5, improved to 7-1 overall, 2-0 in the ODAC; the Yellow Jackets dropped to 3-6, 0-2.

In Game 1, senior right fielder Jonathan Mason went 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run and three RBIs.

EMU, E&H Split: Freshman Kyle Armstrong hit an RBI single in the 12th inning to lift Eastern Mennonite University to an 8-7 win over Emory & Henry in Game 1 of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday in Emory.

E&H won Game 2, 10-0.

The Royals moved to 8-6 overall, 1-1 in the ODAC; the Wasps are 6-6, 1-1.

Junior catcher Jonathan Estrada went 4-for-6 with three RBIs in Game 2, including a homer in the seventh and a leadoff single before scoring the game-winning run in the 12th.

In Game 1, E&H freshman right-hander Matthew McInaw threw seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits.
