Cops More Dangerous Than Speeders
Posted: March 8, 2013
There is a section of Pleasant Valley Road where speed limit changes (between the Cracker Barrel Restaurant and the bridge over Blacks Run). The section is designated School Zone; entrance into Pleasant Valley Elementary and Massanutten Technical Center.
Between 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m., this section reduces speed limit from 40 mph to 25 mph. During these hours, one of Harrisonburg’s finest crusaders sit, armed with advance speed detection equipment, ready to pounce upon inattentive drivers that enter the area without first reducing their speed to the required limit. Failure to obey this posted speed during specified times will result with the crusader flashing lights and engaging in hot pursuit.
Interestingly, the inattentive driver doing 37 mph through this section of roadway is considered a violation; yet, the hot pursuit of 60 mph to pull over the offending villain is proper and necessary to maintain public safety.
