Dorner Is No Hero
Posted: February 22, 2013
What is more grotesque — the killing spree by ex-LAPD cop Chris Dorner or the way in which some elements of the liberal mainstream media have lionized Mr. Dorner and made him some sort of hero?
The late Mr. Dorner’s rampage can neither be excused nor dismissed, but that seems the intent of folks who maintain we all have something to “learn” from his mayhem. After all, this was a man raging against the system, against institutional racism, against police brutality — a real-life “Django Unchained.” Murderers always have an excuse for their crimes. Some publish manifestos. That does not change what they are. Let us not mistake Dorner for anything but what he was: a murderer.
Finally, for a bit of perspective, imagine if some conservatives had said the nation could “learn” something from Scott Roeder, who shot and killed abortion doctor George Tiller in 2009.
The outrage from the left would have been convulsive — and endless.
