HARRISONBURG – Junior guard Kirby Burkholder scored a career-high 27 points to lift James Madison to a 93-44 win over Georgia Southern in a non-conference women’s basketball game Monday at the Convocation Center.

The Dukes, who won their third straight, improved to 6-6; the Eagles, who lost their eighth in a row, fell to 1-10.

Senior guard Tarik Hislop had 14 points and freshman guard Precious Hall added 12 for Madison, which shot 50 percent from the field in scoring its most points this season and the most at the Convo since a 104-63 win over Maryland-Baltimore County on Dec. 18, 2008.

Burkholder, a Turner Ashby High School graduate who also had eight rebounds and four steals, shot 9-of-12 from the floor, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range.

Madison will play its first Colonial Athletic Association game on Sunday at North Carolina-Wilmington.
