Daily News-Record

Shenandoah County fire investigators say two people died in this morning's blaze in Toms Brook.

Firefighters say the two people that resided at that home are William Dartnell, 81, and Kikuko Dischleit, 86. However, the medical examiner is working to identify the bodies.

Investigators believe the fire was accidental but the cause of the fire hasn't been determined yet.

This is an update to a previous story, which is posted below.

The Shenandoah County fire marshal is investigating a house fire in Toms Brook that might involve fatalities.

Firefighters responded to a home on Jessica Place around 5:30 a.m. today. The first firefighters were on scene within three minutes of the 911 call and reported there was fire throughout the building.

A bulk of the fire was knocked down within an hour. Fire and rescue crews from Toms Brook, Strasburg, and Woodstock, along with Shenandoah County Department of Fire and Rescue, responded to the scene.

Investigators say the blaze severely damaged the structure, so crews had to stabilize remaining portion before they could start investigating. Investigators are currently combing through the rubble.
