HARRISONBURG — Five people, including two children, were injured in a single-car crash on Interstate 81 in northern Rockingham County Saturday afternoon.
Fortunately, though, none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening, police say.
According to Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. Tyler a 2003 GMC Envoy was traveling northbound near mile marker 256 when its driver lost control, struck a guardrail and overturned in the median. The crash occurred a little after 1 p.m. The driver, Vilma Tyler, 53, was issued a summons for reckless driving.
Vilma Tyler and Sgt. Tyler are not related.
A man was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville with unspecified injuries.
Vilma Tyler and the other three passengers, including two girls, ages 6 and 9, were transported to Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Sgt. Tyler said.
Information on the injured man was unavailable, but his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
