McCoy Leads Blazers: SHS Defeats Pioneers, 90-67
PENN LAIRD — Junior point guard Tucker McCoy scored 33 points as Spotswood High School beat Millbrook 90-67 in the Blazer Tip-Off Tournament championship game Saturday night in Penn Laird.
The Trailblazers improved to 2-0; the Pioneers fell to 1-1.
Rze Culbreath led Millbrook with 15 points.
Weiler was named tournament MVP, scoring 49 points over two days and leading SHS in rebounds. McCoy, who also had 49 total points, made the all-tournament team. Joining him and Weiler were Culbreath, Cody Brooks (Millbrook), Andrew Rowsey (Rockbridge) and Jamal Simpson (Stuarts Draft).
Rowsey, a senior guard who will play D-I basketball at UNC-Asheville, scored 60 points in Saturday’s 117-87 consolation win over Stuarts Draft.
