Posted: January 25, 2014

A head-on crash Friday afternoon in Page County sent three people to the hospital, including two to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Sgt. Les Tyler with the Virginia State Police said fire and rescue crews from Luray and Stanley responded to Mill Creek Road, near the intersection of Mill Creek Crossroads, shortly before 4 p.m.

He said the crash happened when a southbound 2004 Dodge Stratus, driven by Alicia Wallace, 19, of Stanley, crossed the centerline and struck a 1992 Geo Metro, driven by Virginia Cubbage, 64, of Luray.

Medical helicopters AirCare 5 and U.Va.-based Pegasus landed at the scene. Tyler said Cubbage and a 14-year-old boy in Cubbage’s vehicle were flown to U.Va.

Wallace was taken by ambulance to Page Memorial Hospital in Luray.

No one involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, Tyler said.

Tyler said Wallace was charged with reckless driving.
