I-81 Lane Closures Canceled

Lane closures planned for this weekend on I-81 north have been cancelled, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Forecasts of high winds caused work on a truck climbing lane project to be postponed.

A VDOT press release stated the closure was scheduled for Friday through Monday from mile marker 195 to 200. The $74.2 million truck lane project includes adding a third lane, which would allow the two far right lanes for trucks and all three lanes open to other vehicles.

A new work schedule for the project will be released in the near future.
