HARRISONBURG – Heritage High School (Newport News) running back Khalid Abdullah has committed to play football at James Madison, a source confirmed Saturday.

Adbullah — a 5-foot-11, 200-pounder — committed Friday night during a home visit, the source said. Abdullah is the ninth player in JMU’s class of 2013 and joins Warwick’s Cardon Johnson as the only running backs in the Dukes’ recruiting class so far.

According to MaxPreps, Abdullah, who also plays linebacker, averaged 176 yards rushing per game and 7.8 per carry. He scored 17 touchdowns.

JMU’s other 2013 recruits are York Defensive lineman Cody Hendrickson, Monticello quarterback Jhalil Mosley, North Stafford wide receiver Brandon Ravenel, Matoaca tight end Brandon Brown, Kellam Defensive lineman Nick Edwards, Quince Orchard (Md.) defensive lineman Andrew Ankrah and Seneca Valley wide receiver Jordan Brown.
