HARRISONBURG — Sophomore Patrick Toohers struck out seven and allowed just two hits and one run in seven innings to lead James Madison to an 11-3 win over Hartford in a non-conference baseball game Friday.
The Dukes improved to 3-6; the Hawks dropped to 0-5.
Third baseman Ty McFarland, second baseman Casey Goss and catcher Chris Hanson recorded two hits apiece for the Dukes, who also reached base six times on walks. First baseman Matt Tenaglia went 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
The Dukes continue their four-game series with Hartford today with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

Ford Helps James Madison Softball Split Doubleheader
ORLANDO, Fla. — Jailyn Ford and Reba DePriest combined on a 16-strikeout, two-hit shutout to lead James Madison to a 7-0 win over College of Charleston and a split on Day 1 of the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic softball tournament Friday.
The Dukes, who lost 3-2 to Pittsburgh earlier in the day, moved to 8-4; Pittsburgh improved to 6-6 while Charleston dropped to 7-4.
Ford and shortstop Caitlin Sandy also hit home runs in the win over Charleston.
JMU led Pitt 2-1 heading into the final inning of the opener, but the Panthers scored twice to earn a walk-off win.
