Man Wanted In City Caught In Tennessee

HARRISONBURG — A man wanted by Harrisonburg, Waynesboro and Staunton police for multiple counts of grand larceny, forgery and other charges was arrested Friday in Morristown, Tenn.
Joseph Tyrone Hunter, 41, whose last known address was in Waynesboro, was arrested by the Morristown Police Department Friday on the outstanding warrants in the three central Valley cities, according to a Waynesboro Police Department press release.
Hunter is wanted in Harrisonburg on a charge of felony grand larceny, according to Sgt. William Keller of the Harrisonburg Police Department.
The exact nature of the crimes Hunter is accused of committing could not be confirmed by press time Sunday.
According to the release, Waynesboro received a Crime Stoppers tip and provided the information to Tennessee officials, which led to the Hunter’s arrest.
Hunter is being held without bond in Tennessee pending an extradition hearing, according to the release.
He is wanted for six charges in Waynesboro, according to that city’s police department, including felony accounts of forgery, grand larceny, obtaining money by false pretenses, receiving stolen property and failure to appear.
In Staunton he is wanted for felony counts of forgery and grand larceny, according to the same release.
