Police Stop Pair After Girl Reported Missing

PHILADELPHIA — A Grottoes man was arrested in Washington, D.C., Tuesday evening after police stopped him and a missing 13-year-old suburban Philadelphia girl he met online.

Ashley Ryan Hareford, 20, was charged with corruption of a minor, and additional charges are pending, according to Cpl. Kevin Gallagher of the Radnor Township, Pa., Police Department.

Police were waiting for Hareford, who lists himself on Facebook as a student of “The Juggalo University of Murder,” and Savanna Marie MacMullett as the pair got off a bus they took from Philadelphia to D.C., according to Gallagher and The Philadelphia Daily News.

“Police were there. They had no idea, so it was a peaceful resolution to this situation, which we’re happy [about], ‘cause we have to remember, she’s 13 years old. We didn’t want any extra trauma to be added to this,” Radnor Lt. Christopher Flanagan told Philadelphia television station WPVI.

MacMullett was last seen at 4 p.m. Monday when she left her house and told her parents she was headed to an after-school activity.

Hareford devoted several of his Facebook posts Monday to MacMullett.

Police in the area of the girl’s house stopped Hareford Sunday night because he was acting suspicious but released him without taking him into custody.

MacMullett’s disappearance was not classified as an abduction because police believe she took off willingly with Hareford, according to WPVI.

Hareford is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania, Gallagher said.
