NEW: Reed, Shiflet Win Rockingham School Board Races

HARRISONBURG —  Renee Reed came out victorious in Tuesday’s three-way race for the Rockingham County School Board’s District 3 seat, winning 2,026 votes.

Her competitors, Jim Elmore, 59, of Penn Laired and Dave Briggman, 50, of Keezletown, received 1,420 and 1,283 votes, respectively.

In District 1 victor LaDonna Shiflet, 51, of Broadway received 2,180 votes. Richard Fulk, 70, also of Broadway, waged a write-in campaign for the seat. Write-in candidates received 1,324 votes in the race, though

Rockingham County Registrar Lisa Gooden said Tuesday night she could not confirm how many of those were for Fulk. Gooden said the electoral board would convene at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to certify votes, including Fulk’s.
