Obama, Kaine Good On Environment
Posted: October 11, 2012
A new study of Arctic sea ice and spring snow melt revealed that perennial and annual ice has diminished drastically this year more than any year since scientists have been observing it for the past 33 years.
This is faster than the climate models predicted and can affect the jet stream and weather patterns dramatically. The ice caps are a cooling mechanism by reflecting sunlight back into the atmosphere. Without them, climate disruption will likely occur at a faster and dangerous pace.
Although, this is science and not politics, our friends in Washington have not taken this as a serious concern. Although both parties have received campaign contributions from the fossil fuel industry, I am throwing my votes for President Obama and Gov. Kaine, who have a better record when it comes to promoting clean and sustainable energy.
