BRIDGEWATER — Junior guard Tavis Stapleton scored a career-high 26 points as Bridgewater College beat Guilford 78-75 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday.
No. 7 seed Bridgewater will host No. 10 seed Roanoke in the first round of the ODAC tournament at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The Eagles improved to 14-11 overall, 8-8 in the ODAC; the Quakers, who were without leading scorer Josh Pittman (flu), fell to 17-8, 9-7.
Matt McCarthy led Guilford with 30 points.

The visiting Maroons improved to 10-15 overall, 3-13 in the ODAC; the Royals, who would have hosted a first-round playoff game with a win, fell to 14-11, 7-9.
Sims led EMU with 19 points. Senior Andrew Thorne added 17 points and 10 rebounds.
In the ODAC tourney, ninth-seeded EMU will play at eighth-seeded Washington & Lee at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
