Open Forum Set On Possible Move To Simms
Posted: February 20, 2013
HARRISONBURG — The public is invited to an open forum Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Lucy F. Simms Continuing Education Center to discuss Harrisonburg City Schools’ possible move into the building.
In December, the Harrisonburg City School Board formally asked City Council for permission to use the building to house its prekindergarten programs. The goal is to help temporarily ease crowding at elementary schools.
At council’s suggestion, the school board will continue to look at other ways to solve space issues within city schools and is expected to submit a new list of formal proposals to council by April.
Thursday’s open forum is hosted by the Northeast Neighborhood Association.
City schools Superintendent Scott Kizner will be on hand to answer audience questions.
