Pedestrian Hit At City Intersection

HARRISONBURG — A pick-up truck struck a pedestrian at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Cantrell Avenue and South Main Street.
Harrisonburg police allege that Dale Simmons, 64, of Linville, hit Daniel Holland, 22, of Spotsylvania, while Holland was in the crosswalk on Cantrell Ave. Simmons was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500.
Police said Simmons was turning left from South Main onto Cantrell when he struck Holland. Holland was transported to Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Police said his injuries are “non-life threatening.”
Simmons was charged with failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.
