Police: China Wok Robber Arrested

Edinburg Man Accused Of Jan. 6 Crime

Posted: February 5, 2013

A man police say is responsible for robbing the owner of China Wok in Woodstock at knifepoint last month has been arrested.

Christopher Golladay, 32, of Edinburg, was discovered Friday hiding in a barn adjacent to his residence in Edinburg, said Woodstock Police Chief Eric Reiley.

Tips from community members and cooperation with several investigating law enforcement agencies led police to Golladay, Reiley said.

Upon his arrest, officers found he had suffered a head injury, which police believe occurred during the robbery, solidifying him as the suspect.

On the evening of Jan. 6, police say, a man approached China Wok at 1019 S. Main St. as the owner was taking out the cash drawer and preparing to close.

“The [man] forced him back into the restaurant with a knife and demanded money,” Reiley said.

The restaurant owner managed to strike the man with a glass jar full of change that had been donated to a local charity. After taking the blow, the man fled out the back door with $300 in cash.

Reiley said the money was not recovered.

The Woodstock Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police.

Golladay appeared in Shenandoah County General District Court Monday morning and is being held without bond at Shenandoah County Jail. He is scheduled to be in court next on March 18.
