Rehab Center Dispute Easily Solved
Posted: November 12, 2012
I have been following the request by U Turn for Christ and Lindale Mennonite Church to open a rehabilitation center near Broadway. I understand the concerns of the nearby property owners, especially with three schools less than two miles away. These families are concerned about safety, how it will affect their land value, and special use permits being approved.
There are similar properties for sale or lease that would not encroach on property owners. Why doesn’t Lindale purchase the 8.7-acre parcel beside their church that is for sale by Cottonwood Commercial and build a facility?
This is the best solution for both parties. The church could lease the building to U Turn and the property owners near or adjoining the proposed site would continue to have their peace and quiet.
This would be a win-win situation for both parties.
