Shelton To Lead United Way Board

HARRISONBURG — Alan Shelton has been elected president of the board of directors of the local United Way chapter for 2013.
Shelton, senior food scientist for Cargill Value Added Meats, was tapped as president at the United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County’s December meeting. He succeeds Gary Calleo, who is vice president of manufacturing at RR Donnelley.
Shelton has been involved with several local nonprofit groups, including the Harrisonburg Community Health Center, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Smart Beginnings.
A Cargill employee for 33 years, Shelton lives with his wife, Jane Hubbell, in Harrisonburg. They have three grown children.
