Skyland Resort Extending Season

Posted: November 20, 2012

HARRISONBURG — Skyland Resort in Shenandoah National Park is extending its season through Dec. 2 for the first time in 25 years.

The resort usually closes the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

This year, it will stay open for a reduced $99-per-night rate starting Sunday through Dec. 1.

Park officials cited popular demand as the reason for the lengthened season in a press release sent out Nov. 13.

The resort also is offering three seasonal events.

On Thursday from noon through 7 p.m., a buffet-style Thanksgiving feast featuring almost 30 options will be served.

Tickets are $29.95 for adults, $24 for seniors (age 62 and older) and $14 for children 6 through 10. Children younger than 5 can eat free.

Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling 1-800-999-4714, option 0, daily from 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m.

On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and again on Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., the resort will offer food, entertainment, holiday cooking demonstrations and holiday craft workshops.

The resort also will hold a prize drawing every hour for the first nine hours both days. Prizes include a two-night midweek stay at Skyland.

The park has an entrance fee of $15, and certain activities have an additional charge.
