Student ‘Stable’ After Fall

Posted: October 15, 2012

HARRISONBURG — A James Madison University student was in stable condition on Sunday, one day after she fell from the roof of a three-story fraternity house, according to Harrisonburg police.

Cpl. Daniel Claxton of the Harrisonburg Police Department said Elizabeth Vincent, 21, a senior from Onley on Virginia’s eastern shore, was taking pictures atop the roof of the Delta Chi house at 715 S. Main St. when she fell at 1:44 p.m. on Saturday. Claxton said Vincent fell after she tripped on the dress she was wearing.

She was transported to Rockingham Memorial Hospital before a medical helicopter took her to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. She was listed as stable on Sunday, according to a U.Va. spokeswoman.

Students were gathered at the fraternity in advance of Saturday’s home football game between James Madison and William & Mary, which kicked off at 3:30 p.m.

Vincent is a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.
