We Should Celebrate Thanksgiving

Posted: November 16, 2012

I ask why Thanksgiving is not celebrated as much as Easter, Halloween and Christmas? The last of October, or the first November, we start hearing songs of Christmas in the stores, restaurants, etc. You see all kinds of Christmas decorations, but very little, if anything, to celebrate Thanksgiving. Don’t get me wrong. Christmas is our most important holiday of the year because of the birth of our dear Savior, Jesus Christ.

Do we ever stop to think who gave us Thanksgiving and how much time the Pilgrims spent to bring Thanksgiving Day to us? I believe it is a special time of the year for us to stop and be especially thankful for things in our lives, even though we are thankful during the whole year.

Do we take time on Thanksgiving Day to talk to our children about why we have our special meals of turkey, pumpkin pie, etc.? So, again, I ask, why do we not celebrate Thanksgiving Day as a special day?
Here’s wishing everyone “A blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!”
