BRIDGEWATER — The Bridgewater Rotary Club will honor outstanding Vocational teachers from Turner Ashby High School, Wilbur Pence Middle School and Massanutten Technical Center at its annual Vocational Awards night on Tuesday.

Harrisonburg Economic Development Director To Deliver Presentation At Rotary Club

HARRISONBURG — Today’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Harrisonburg will feature a presentation by Brian Shull, director of Harrisonburg Economic Development.

Average US Price Of Regular-Grade Gas Drops 3 Cents Per Gallon To $2.93

CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — The average U.S. price of regular-grade gasoline fell 3 cents a gallon over the past two weeks, to $2.93.

Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey says Sunday that it’s the first price drop at the pump in four months.

Lundberg says the price is 6 cents lower than it was one year ago.

The highest average price in the nation is $4.08 a gallon in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The lowest average is $2.35 in Baton Rouge, La.

The average price of diesel fell a penny over the past two weeks, to $3.16.

Maker Of Auto Components Hitachi Plans $100 Million Expansion In Georgia

MONROE, Ga. (AP) — A company that manufactures vehicle components for major automakers is launching a $100 million expansion of its plant in Georgia.

Gov. Brian Kemp’s office says Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas plans to create 100 jobs as it grows its operation in Walton County east of Atlanta. The company makes engine powertrain systems and other high-tech components for vehicles produced by Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Subaru and Honda.

Hitachi Automotive Systems is a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Hitachi. The company opened its first Georgia plant in 1997 and now employs about 900 people in the state. A news release from Kemp’s office said the company is increasing its production capacity to keep up with growth in the auto industry.
