HARRISONBURG - In the past, city officials have found furniture, mattresses and trash deliberately - and anonymously - dumped in Blacks Run, said Jared Stoltzfus, the city's stream health coordinator.
The stream, which flows through Harrisonburg and into Cooks Creek before making its way into the Shenandoah River, is also impaired with high levels of bacteria and sediment, according to state officials.
