Freed Black Community To Be Commemorated In County

HARRISONBURG - A new Department of Historic Resources highway marker commemorating Long's Chapel northeast of Harrisonburg will be dedicated Saturday. Long's Chapel was part of Zenda, a rural community of freed blacks that came about following the Civil War. The chapel, built in 1870, is to be restored as part of a project to commemorate the site.
