HARRISONBURG - With help from his dad last week, James Madison University freshman Nic Mirenda settled into his Dingledine Hall dorm room and prepared for what was supposed to a fun year ahead on the Harrisonburg campus.
But Wednesday, he received devastating news.
A cyclist, who was struck and killed on Port Republic Road Tuesday, had been identified as his father, Dr. Joseph Mirenda, 49, of Virginia Beach.
