Kenneth Lee Purdham

Kenneth Lee Purdham, 76, of Stanley, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born Dec. 4, 1942, in Harrisonburg, Va., and was a son of the late Ivan Kenneth and Katherine Petefish Purdham.

Kenny graduated from Stanley High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed with Wallace Computer Services in Luray for many years until retirement. He was a member of Stanley United Methodist Church, Roundhead Sportsman Club, Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 4264 in New Market and former member AF and AM Masonic Lodge No. 184 in Stanley. Kenny’s favorite pastimes were hunting, golfing and going to the beach. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and was anxiously waiting to meet his two great-grandchildren expected this summer.

On Feb. 20, 1966, he married Betty Jo Manuel, who preceded him in death on May 27, 2019.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen Sue Breeden and Karla Renee Purdham and companion, Scott Switzer; brother, Douglas Purdham and wife, Karen Paige; grandchildren, Dustin Breeden and significant other, Heather Campbell, Derek Breeden and wife, Ashlee, Jason Cave and Joshua Alger and wife, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Makenna Breeden, Liam Cave, Cole Cave, Brynlee Wolfe and Blakelee Jo “B.J.” Alger; close friend and caregiver, Perry Patton; and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Stanley United Methodist Church or at the Purdham residence at any time.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2019, at Stanley United Methodist Church with Pastor Anne Sisson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stanley United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 15, Stanley, VA 22851 or Stanley Fire Department, 190 E. Main St., Stanley, VA 22851.
