Loretta A. Harris, 74, of Grottoes, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Sunnyside. Loretta was born Aug. 30, 1943, and was a daughter of the late Roy H. and Maude Hasler Armentrout of Keezletown, Va.

On Dec. 19, 1970, Loretta was married to Gene Arnold Harris, who preceded her in death Dec. 17, 2002. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Roy J. Armentrout, sister, Doris A. Wishard, and nephew, Terry Wishard.

Loretta was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of Montevideo High School, Mary Baldwin College and received her Master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Loretta was employed by the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services working in Fairfax County Public Schools with students with special needs. She was a former member of the Town Council of Grottoes, Grottoes Ruritan Club, and a fan of the Seattle Seahawks.

Loretta leaves behind two sisters, Marie A. Royer and Louise A. Layman; a brother, Hensel L. Armentrout; and a sister-in-law, Jean R. Armentrout. Also surviving are nieces, Kay Horn, Sandra Hess, Karen May and Dale Lynne Layman; and nephews, Donald Wishard, David Wishard and Larry Royer; and many great-nieces and nephews and special friends, Bill and Cindy Martin and Dorsey Hiltenbrand.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the Keezletown Ruritan Hall, 1118 Indian Trail Road, Keezletown, Va.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grottoes Fire and Rescue Department, 109 Third St., Grottoes, VA 24441.
