William H. Hamilton

William Harry Hamilton, 70, passed away April 26, 2012, at his home in Weyers Cave. He had been ill with cancer.

He was born Sept. 3, 1941, in Ravenna, Ohio, to the late Harry S. and Lucille Williston Hamilton.

Raised in Ohio, he graduated from Crestwood High School in 1959 and served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic and studied building and home construction, his life’s work. Mr. Hamilton retired from Patterson Construction in 2006.

In January 1965, he married Dottie Phillips Hamilton, who survives.

He leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, David and Freda Tafrawe Hamilton of Verona; and a daughter, Sherri Hamilton of Weyers Cave. He was devoted to his family, including his grandchildren, William and Samantha Ford Hamilton, Matthew Hamilton and Courtney Thompson, Kayla Hamilton, and Hannah Carter; three great-grandchildren Olivia, Aubree and William. Also surviving are two brothers, John and Ray Hamilton, both of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Susan Hamilton of Weyers Cave and Sandy Fishel and Linda Ludholtz, both of Mount Crawford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Hamilton.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Community Fellowship Church in Waynesboro with Pastor Jeff Griffith officiating.
