Edith D. Lohman

April 21, 1922-July 25, 2012

Edith D. Lohman of Bridgewater Retirement Community passed following a brief illness.

Predeceased by parents, Dr. Robert E. Dengler and Mary D. Dengler of State College, Pa.; brother, Gregor D. Dengler of Iowa and husband, Dr. John B. Lohman of Virginia.

Survived by children, Eugene J. Lohman of Ohio, Mary L. Heumann of Michigan, Patricia E. Burrows of West Virginia, Edith Ann Lohman of New York, Robert I. Lohman of Virginia, and Elsa W. Martinez of Virginia; grandchildren, Hannah J. Epstein of New Mexico, Benjamin W. Heumann of Quebec, Teva L. Spray of Georgia, and Nicholas J. Martinez of North Dakota and great-grandchild, Aurora Spray of Georgia.

Edith was a longtime peace activist and advocate for human rights and dignity, the wife of a Pentagon nuclear scientist, lover of nature and adventure, and will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Lantz Chapel at the Bridgewater Retirement Community with the Rev. Jeffery Carr and Chaplain Debra Huffman officiating.
