
Joyce Elaine Heatwole, 55, of Harrisonburg, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born in Harrisonburg on May 21, 1957, and was a daughter Louise Elizabeth (Keller) Heatwole of Bridgewater and the late Chester Melvin Heatwole.
Joyce lived a fulfilling life of service to others. Her dedication to Jesus Christ was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was a member of the Peake Mennonite Church. She enjoyed homemaking and gardening. Joyce and her husband and family operated Scenery Hill Dairy.
She was united in marriage on Sept. 25, 1976, to Kenneth Allen Heatwole, who survives.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her four children: daughter, Michelle Elizabeth Showalter and husband, Luke, of Weyers Cave; three sons, Eric Dwayne Heatwole and wife, Ruth Anna, Wesley Allen Heatwole and wife, Carla, and Austin Jay Heatwole and wife, Rachel, all of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Sharon Carper and husband, Dewitt, of Keezletown, Phyllis Horst and husband, Nathan, of Weyers Cave, and Janet Burkholder and husband, Jonathan, of Bridgewater; three brothers, Leon Heatwole and wife, Ida, of Port Republic, Dale Heatwole and wife, Gail, of Mount Crawford and Mark Heatwole of Penn Laird. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brooke and Erin Showalter, Elijah and Benjamin Heatwole, Trevor, Sabrina and Aubrey Heatwole.
A funeral service will be held at Bank Mennonite Church, Dayton, Va., at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Bank Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bank Mennonite Church.
