Matthew W. Mooers

Matthew William Mooers, 20, a resident of Heathsville, Va., died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
 
He was born June 26, 1992, in Fairfax County, and was a son of Kevin and Judith Dilley Mooers of Heathsville.
 
Matthew graduated in 2010 from Northumberland High School and was a junior at JMU studying engineering. He was a four-time qualifier and two-time fourth place winner at the high school state wrestling tournament. He was a member of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at JMU and Fairfields United Methodist Church in Burgess, Va.
 
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Jeffrey Mooers of Moline, Ill.; sisters, Jamisue Plucinski and husband, Mike, of Bristow, Va., and Laura Ford and husband, Denis, of Seattle, Wash.; two nieces, Kailey Plucinski and Ashlee Webb; a nephew, Austin Plucinski; and grandparents, Keith and Jackie Mooers of Alpha, Ill., and Bill Dilley of Ashby, Neb.
 
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
