Ralph E. Davis

Ralph Elwood “Johnny” Davis, formerly of Mount Airy, Md., passed away on Aug. 25, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas.

Born Dec. 14, 1926, in Shenandoah at Naked Creek, he was the only child of Lloyd and Verbena Davis.

Ralph loved early life at Verbena Mill and Naked Creek, and his large extended family. His parents relocated to Baltimore, Md., from Shenandoah. As a teenager, Ralph worked loading trains at Camden Yards.

He was a Navy veteran. Ralph worked as a millwright for Bethlehem Steel for 40 years until his retirement. He remained physically active and loved his yard and garden, rarely sitting still. He had a sharp mind and enjoyed numbers, politics and history.

Ralph is survived by daughters Diana Bachman (Gary) of Hagerstown, Md., and Laura Davis of Ijamsville, Md.

Ralph is also survived by his wife and two stepdaughters of San Antonio, and stepdaughter of Brisbane, Australia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Teresa “Terry” Davis, in 1981.

Ralph is remembered by his daughters as the perpetual country boy, whose heart never left the Shenandoah Valley. There are no services planned at this time.
