Larry S. Thompson

Larry Sherman Thompson, 64, of Hinton, passed away Sept. 13, 2012, at his home.
 
Mr. Thompson was born Dec. 13, 1947, in West Virginia and was a son of Eva Bland Thompson and the late Sherman Thompson.
 
He served in the Army during Vietnam and worked as a handyman at Natural Chimneys. He had a free spirit and was a member of the Harrisonburg VFW.
 
Larry is survived by one brother, Terry Thompson of Hinton, Va.; three aunts, Thretha Thompson of Franklin, W.Va., Wilma Nelson of Dayton, Ohio, and Shirley Bland of Broadway, Va.; four uncles, Jerry Thompson of Hinton, Va., Donald Thompson of Timberville, Va., Don Bible of McGaheysville, Va., and Elmer Sponaugle of Franklin, W.Va.; two nephews, Terry Thompson and wife, Angie, of Mount Solon, Va., and Andrew Thompson and wife, Sherry, of New Hope, Va.; one great-nephew, Hank Thompson; and two great-nieces, Faith and Ashley.
 
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
 
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at the Kyger Funeral Home with Eric Heatwole officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
