Terrie Dean values the art of good conversation. One of her favorite holiday pastimes is gathering around the kitchen table with relatives and simply talking for hours on end.
All I want for Christmas is normal.
James A. Rauch, 76, of Massanutten, Va., formerly of Fremont, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
James was born March 8, 1936, in Fremont, a son of the late Forest and Lucy (McCoy) Rauch.
He was a 1954 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and was a member of the swim team and high school marching band. James attended Bowling Green and Ohio State universities until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. While serving in the Army from 1956 to 1959, James was a dental specialist.
James was co-owner and president of Prairie Supply Inc., a family business in Fremont, Ohio. Upon retiring from Prairie Builders in 1998, he worked two years as a boat salesman for Johnson’s Best Buy Marine in Port Clinton, Ohio.
He was a member of the Masons, VFW, Elks, Fremont Chamber of Commerce and Homebuilders Association. His hobbies were enjoying his boat on Lake Erie, farming, and snowmobiling, owning horses, NASCAR racing and Ohio State football games.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Wagner) Rauch and sister, Sally Adams; son, Todd (Debbie) Rauch; daughter, Laura Rauch; stepsons, Jeff Lugar and John (Pam) Lugar; grandchildren, Kyle, Cody and Austin Rauch and Travis, Tyler, McKenzie and Gretchen Lugar.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Camelot Shuff officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
