Helen C. Hammer

Helen C. Hammer, 93, died on Nov. 24, 2012, at Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Okla. Helen was born April 20, 1919. She was a daughter of Ernest and Nannie Monger. On Aug. 17, 1940, she married Elwood I. Hammer, who preceded her in death in 1987.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Sandy Bilby and Jo Ahalt and husband, Rudell, and a son, Kenneth Hammer and wife, Cindy. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her only sister, Ellen Layman and husband, William; and sisters-in-law, Hazel Monger, Betty Jo Hammer and Dorothy Monteleone. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Weaver, Lacy and Carroll Monger.

There will be a celebration of remembrance on Dec. 8, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Bethel U.C.C. in Elkton, Va. The  Rev. Anne Sisson and the Rev. Dan Bassett will be conducting the memorial service.
