John M. Corley Jr.

John Martin Corley Jr., 43, of Penn Laird, passed away Jan. 1, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Corley was born Nov. 23, 1969, in Atlanta, Ga., and was the son of Martha Pike Walker of Lithia Springs, Ga., and the late John Martin Corley Sr.

John graduated from Douglasville High School, where he played baseball. He was a senior field representative for Power Tech Engineering, based in Georgia and Indiana, and moved to the Valley 13 years ago, where he was a contractor for Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative.

John was a Virginia Tech football fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Besides his mother, John is survived by his wife, Nicole “Nikki” Atkins Corley; daughters, Grace Denise Corley of Lithia Springs, Ga., and Addison Belle Corley at home; and brother, Joey Walker of Lithia Springs, Ga. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Marvin Joseph Pike.

Pastors Roger Dove and Margaret Michael will conduct a memorial service 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be private.
