Walton P. Bell

Walton Page “Buddy” Bell, 85, of Luray, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013. He was born on May 13, 1927, and was a son of Hubert Edgar and Anna Lloyd Bell.

Buddy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Leaksville United Church of Christ. He graduated from Luray High School and Manassas Technical School. He was employed by Potomac Edison for 36 years. He was a member of Luray Fire Department for 52 years, where he served 17 years as treasurer. He also served on the Luray Town Council and was a member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club. He was an avid turkey hunter.

On Oct. 13, 1973, he married Sarah Shaffer Bell, who survives. On July 28, 1951, he married June Short Bell, who is deceased. He is also survived by a son, Terry Page Bell and wife, Kelly; a granddaughter, Tessy Lyn Bell and a grandson, Brady Page Bell. Also surviving are a brother, Donald “Jake” Bell; and two sisters, Nancy Gordon and Judy Aleshire. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Kibler, and two brothers, Julian Bell and Ronald Bell. He also leaves behind his faithful basset hound, Suzie.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Leaksville United Church of Christ by Dr. Eddie Walker and Chaplain Garland Gochenour. Burial service will be at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery.
