Lillian E. Summers

Lillian Estelle Summers, 92, of Broadway, passed away Jan. 7, 2013, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Summers was born March 2, 1920, in New Market, and was a daughter of the late Gilbert L. and Lettie Salyards Walden.

She lived in the Washington, D.C., area for a number of years and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. She enjoyed crocheting and cruising the mountains, especially during the fall.    

On Sept. 25, 1940, she married Paul D. Summers, who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Gary Summers of Broadway; a daughter, Tami Lamb of Bridgewater; a sister, Beulah Miller of New Market; grandchildren, Derek Lamb, Steven Lamb, Jeffrey Summers and wife, Suzy, and Cynthia Kasza and husband, Dave; great-grandchildren, Ryan Kasza, Alex Kasza, Brittany Summers, Matthew Summers and Peyton Summers. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Eric and Marsha Summers and siblings, Zaner Moyers, Ruby Crist and Wiss Walden.

Pastor Jim Harrison will conduct the funeral service 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
