Terrie Dean values the art of good conversation. One of her favorite holiday pastimes is gathering around the kitchen table with relatives and simply talking for hours on end.
All I want for Christmas is normal.
William Richard Vencill, 52, of Elkton, was promoted to glory Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in his home. Bill was born in Tazewell County on Aug. 3, 1960, to Shirley Gillispie Vencill and the late William Thomas Vencill.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Karen Sue Vencill; two daughters, Monica L. Martinez and husband, Juan and Melissa D. Mallow, all of Harrisonburg; one stepdaughter, Stacie Counts of Elkton; two stepsons, Robert Counts and wife, Sandy of Clover Hill and Matthew Steeves and wife, Anna of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Vencill of Pennsylvania and Randall Vencill and wife, Peggy of Mount Jackson; two sisters, Linda Olivar and Norma Amspacher, both of Pennsylvania; his first wife, Dale E. Vencill of Harrisonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was employed with Whitmer’s Tire and Service in Harrisonburg. He was a member of the Eagles Club, American Legion of New Market and Moose Lodge of Timberville. He enjoyed talking on the CB, racecars and drag racing. He had a passion for working on cars and was a mechanic all his life.
Celebration of life services will be held 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Interment will follow at Mount Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the family to help with the funeral expenses.
