G. Stephan Emswiler

G. Stephan Emswiler, 70, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, of a sudden illness. Steve was born in Washington, D.C., on April 10, 1942, but grew up in Broadway, Va. He was a son of the late Melvin and Helen Emswiler.

Steve was an avid Redskins fan and that passion lives on through his son. He also enjoyed reading a good novel, cooking for his family (especially Sunday breakfast) and loved Great Danes.

He was predeceased in death by his parents and older brother, Dick Emswiler. He is survived by his children, Laura Brannan of Timberville, Kimberly Emswiler of Boston, Mass., and Derek Emswiler of Fort Stewart, Ga. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Stephan and Morgan Brannan, and younger brother, Gary Emswiler.

To honor Steve’s wishes there will be no formal visitation or service. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grandle Funeral Home, 148 E. Lee St., Broadway, VA 22815, (please indicate the donation is for Steve Emswiler) to offset medical and burial expenses.
