Charlotte E. Thompson

Charlotte Edith (Kelley) Thompson, 69, of Mount Solon, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
 
She was born in Bath County on March 26, 1943, and was a daughter of the late Isaac Jacob and Junie Estelle (Kelley) Kelley.
 
Charlotte attended Mount Solon Pentecostal Church.
 
She was united in marriage on July 22, 1961, to Mercett “Buck” Thompson of Mount Solon, who survives.
 
Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Cathy Renee Thompson-Mata and husband. Sebastian, of Staunton; four sons, James Thompson of Selbyville, Del., Michael Coleman Thompson and Wanda of Mount Crawford, Stacy Shawn Thompson and wife, Dawn, of Churchville, and Travis Allen Thompson and wife, Erica, of Mount Solon; three sisters, Patsy Riley of Staunton, Phyllis Sterrett of Churchville and Ruth Kelley of Irvine, Texas; three brothers, Daniel Kelley of Churchville, and Tommy Kelley and Charles Kelley, both of Deerfield. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jonathan David Thompson, Wendy Renee Thompson, Anthony Mata, Jackson Taylor, Jacob Thompson, Michael Coleman Thompson, Dillon Thomas Thompson and Olympia Renee Thompson.
 
A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, with the Rev. Charles David Clinedinst officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Church Cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, or at Cathy’s home, 4158 Spring Hill Road, Staunton.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnson Funeral Service, P.O. Box 41 Bridgewater, VA 22812, to help with funeral expenses.
