Nancy J. Leake Derrow

Nancy Janet Leake Derrow, age 74, of Harrisonburg, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 27, 2013, with her family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur “Squire” and Elsie Sites Leake; her husband of 40 years, Carroll David Derrow Sr.; a daughter, Bonnie Leake; two sons, Wayne Leake and baby boy Derrow; one brother, Nelson ”Houston” Leake and five sisters.

Nancy was born in Harrisonburg on Feb. 18, 1938. She lived and raised her family in Harrisonburg, where she was employed with Shenandoah Poultry and the Daily News-Record. She was a member of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Elkton.

Surviving are two sons, Roger A. Leake and wife, Karen, of Radcliff, Ky., and David W. Derrow of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Sharon L. Caracofe and husband, Doug, of McGaheysville and Evelyn L. Waybright and husband, Tommy, of Harrisonburg; one brother, Harold Leake of Elkton; one sister, Patsy Grimsley of Stanley; her grandchildren, Melody Miller and husband, Travis, Mandy Sady and husband, Daniel, Travis Roadcap, Jessica Derrow, Hanna Derrow, Brian Leake, Matthew Leake and Allison Leake; her great-grandchildren, Kellie Caracofe, Jacob Carson, Logan Leake, Kyle Leake and Marleigh Miller and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Leake of Harrisonburg. She is also survived by two granddogs, Copper and Chloe.

Family and friends will gather for visitation Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Full Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle in Elkton with Pastor Ronald Spencer and the Rev. Homer Frazier presiding. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
