Robert M. Smith

Robert Melvin Smith, 50, of Harrisonburg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at his home.

He was born Dec. 22, 1962, in Harrisonburg, and was a son of the late Janie Ettinger Smith and Charles Thomas Smith, who survives. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas Ray Smith of Port Republic; an aunt, Janet Grimsley of McGaheysville; and a niece, Rhonda Grimsley.

Robert worked at the Wal-Mart distribution center, and in his spare time, enjoyed bowling with friends. Another pastime he greatly enjoyed was target shooting with his brother and father.    

 A graveside service will be held in the Cross Keys Cemetery Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. A.D. Tice officiating.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the SPCA at P.O. Box 413, Harrisonburg, VA 22803. Friends may visit the family at their home or come by Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg to pay their respects at any time.
