Gerald C. McCammon

Gerald Charles “Jerry” “Bud” McCammon, 52, of Bridgewater, Va., passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va.

He was born in Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, Pa., on Sept. 21, 1960, and was the son of Gerald J. McCammon of Bridgewater, Va., and Peggy McCammon Ritchey and husband, Joel, of Bedford, Pa.

Jerry graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in Fishertown, Pa., and Penn State University with a degree in animal science. He was a member of Bridgewater United Methodist Church, the co-founder of the Lamb Carcass Extravaganza, originator of Rockingham County Reared and Raised program for sheep, member of the steering committee for the Rockingham County Fair Board, and was the founder of Jerry-fest. He worked as a nutritional consultant at Rockingham Cooperative.

He was united in marriage on Oct. 15, 1988, to Elizabeth “Liz” Fischer McCammon of Bridgewater.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are his three children, Robbie, Chelsea and Jordan McCammon; two sisters, Karen Bittner and husband, James, of Everett, Pa., and Deborah Ann Loser and husband, Tony, of Manheim, Pa.; sister-in-law, Robin Hannon and husband, Michael, and brother-in-law, Richard Fischer and wife, Stefanie, all of New York; seven nieces and seven nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Bridgewater United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, with the Rev. James M. Tongue and the Rev. Douglas D. Gestwick officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater and following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
