Claude A. McCray

MOUNT SIDNEY —Claude Alvin McCray, 82, died Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2013) at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 6, 1930, in Augusta County, he was a son of Joseph and Lula (Siron) McCray.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the city of Waynesboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret “Pat” (Harris) McCray; three sisters, Anna Lee Rosser, Mae Flesher and Faye Skelton; five brothers, Edwin, Floyd, Hubert, Louis and Lyle McCray; and a special friend, Shelva Mitts.

Surviving are two sisters, Josephine Ruley of Verona and Ferraba Winegard of Fishersville; two brothers, Finley McCray of Swoope and Bittle McCray of Mount Sidney; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Wilma Baugher of Bridgewater and Alice Brown of Mount Sidney.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Bear Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Marshall Braylo. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Brown, Paul Morrison, Rudy Mitts, Roger, Chris and Tracy McCray and Dude Western.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bear Funeral Home.
