Terrie Dean values the art of good conversation. One of her favorite holiday pastimes is gathering around the kitchen table with relatives and simply talking for hours on end.
All I want for Christmas is normal.
Martha Moyers Swick, 87, of Broadway, Va., died Feb. 5, 2013, at Life Care Center of New Market.
She was born April 5, 1925, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Daniel H. and Ida Kline Moyers.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Linville Creek United Methodist Church and a member of the Women’s Fellowship.
On April 6, 1947, she married George Elwood Swick, who preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1978.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann S. Light and husband, Dan, of Pinto, Md.; three grandchildren, Nathan Light and wife, Jen, Mark Light and wife, Chrissy, and Rachel Staggs and husband, R.J.; four great-grandchildren, Samantha Snyder, Kyler Baker, Ashlynn Light and Rylee Staggs; one sister, Joyce Moyers of Harrisonburg; one brother, Clarence Moyers and wife, Elizabeth, of Harrisonburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Moyers and Weldon Kline Moyers, and one sister, Lillian Yoder.
The Revs. Elaine Hartman McGann and Paul Roth will conduct a memorial service 1 p.m. Saturday at Linville Creek Church of the Brethren in Broadway. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
The casket will be closed.
